Today is a great day and…………
Tomorrow WILL BE BETTER!
The following information I got at www.webmd.com. That website is a wealth of information not only about cancer, but almost anything. Please visit their site.
The following are the “overviews” for several types of cancer.
BLADDER CANCER: is easily cured if found and treated early. Symptoms include: painful urination and blood in the urine. Causes are unknown. Treatment includes surgery, chemotherapy and radiation.
BRAIN CANCER: has a wide variety of symptoms including: seizures, sleepiness, confusion and behavioral changes. Not all brain tumors are cancerous and benign tumors can also result in similar symptoms.
BREAST CANCER: Often, there are no symptoms of breast cancer, but signs of it can include a lump in your breast or an abnormal mammogram. Breast cancer stages range from early, curable to metastatic. There are a variety of breast cancer treatments. There are different types of breast cancer. Also, breast cancer can occur in men, though uncommon. Male breast cancer should be taken seriously.
CERVICAL CANCER: is mostly caused by the human papillomavirus, or HPV. Symptoms include: painful sex, vaginal bleeding and discharge.
COLORECTAL CANCER: colon cancer and cancer of the rectum usually begins as a small polyp. While most colon polyps are benign, some do become cancerous. Symptoms include: a change in bowel habits or bleeding, but usually colon cancer strikes without symptoms. For this reason it is important to get a colonoscopy. If the cancer is found early, the doctor can use surgery, radiation and/or chemotherapy for effective treatment.
LEUKEMIA: is cancer of the blood cells in your body. They crowd out the red blood cells and platelets your body needs to be healthy. A few of the symptoms are– fatigue, unexplained fever, abnormal bruising, headaches, excessive bleeding (nosebleeds), unintentional weight loss and frequent infections.
LUNG CANCER: starts when abnormal cells grow out of control in the lungs. Lung cancer and smoking often, but not always, go hand in hand. There usually are no signs or early symptoms of lung cancer. As the cancer advances, the symptoms may include: coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and blood mucus. Treatment can include surgery, chemotherapy and/or radiation.
MELANOMA / SKIN CANCER: skin cancers include melanoma, basal cell and squamous cell. Basal and squamous cell are common and treatment is very effective. Malignant melanoma, especially in the later stage, is serious and treatment is difficult. Sun exposure is the biggest cause of melanoma. Early diagnosis and treatment can increase the survival rate.
PANCREATIC CANCER: is aggressive. There are usually few symptoms until the cancer is advanced. Symptoms include: abdominal pain, weight loss, diarrhea and jaundice. Treatments include surgery, chemotherapy and radiation.
PROSTATE CANCER: occurs when cells in the prostate gland grow out of control. There are usually no early symptoms, but some men have urinary symptoms and discomfort. Treatment options are surgery, chemotherapy, cryotherapy, hormonal therapy and/or radiation. In some cases doctors recommend “watchful waiting”.
OVARIAN CANCER: occurs when a cancerous tumor is in a woman’s ovary. There are often no symptoms and no known causes. Ovarian cancer warning signs include: ongoing pain or cramps in the belly or back, abnormal vaginal bleeding, nausea and bloating.
I heard a Chinese proverb by Confucius that I had to share. “Don’t be afraid of going slow………..Just be afraid of stopping“. It loosely translates to……..NEVER GIVE UP. No matter how long or hard the fight is…………………Never lose hope!! NEVER GIVE UP!!
