BASIC ORGANIC QUINOA RECIPE

  8 oz organic quinoa
12 oz filtered water

1/2 tsp sea salt

ONLY BUY ORGANIC QUINOA.   If it is not organic, the outer shell, or saponin,  may be on the quinoa seeds and they are not healthy for you.
There are many recipes for making quinoa. I’ve tried them all.  The one below works for me and has come out perfect every time.

Add all ingredients to a medium saucepan and mix.  Cover with a tight fitting lid and bring to a boil.  When it starts to boil, lower temperature to LOWEST setting on stove.  Set your timer and cook for 20 minutes.  DO NOT UNCOVER AT ALL.  After 20 minutes, turn off burner but leave saucepan on burner.  DO NOT remove lid.  Shake pan a few times to make sure nothing is sticking. Let it cool for 15-20 minutes.  When cooled, uncover and fluff with fork.  There should be no water remaining in saucepan.  Add your favorite spices.

Eat quinoa plain, as a side dish (in place of white potatoes, white rice or white/wheat pasta), or add fresh meats and/or vegetables.  Gently steam your favorite vegetables, with all your favorite spices and add to quinoa.

ADD TO your favorite home-made soup (one bowl at a time).  NEVER add cooked quinoa to any soup, stew, etc that you plan to store in the refrigerator as it will absorb all the liquid and taste awful.
Been there…… Done that.!!!!!
